LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to to 75,248.
The number of cases increased 523 from yesterday, when there were 74,725 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 573 new cases.
The state says there have been 6,141 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 6 from yesterday, when there were 6,135 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 9 new deaths.
Statewide, 55,162 people have recovered from the virus as of July 17. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 3,931,359 cases, and there have been 142,401 deaths — while 1,182,018 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
