60,393 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 60,393.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.

The number of cases has increased 204 from yesterday, when there were 60,189 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 125 new cases.

The state says there have been 5,792 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 2 from yesterday, when there were 5,790 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 18 new deaths.

Statewide, 44,964 people have recovered from the virus as of June 12. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 2,148,357 cases, and there have been 117,290 deaths — while 583,503 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
