60,189 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 60,189.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.

The number of cases has increased 125 from yesterday, when there were 60,064 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 74 new cases.

The state says there have been 5,790 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 18 from yesterday, when there were 5,772 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 2 new deaths.

Statewide, 44,964 people have recovered from the virus as of June 12. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 2,123,750 cases, and there have been 116,526 deaths — while 576,334 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
