LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 59,621.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.
The number of cases has increased 125 from yesterday, when there were 59,496 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 218 new cases.
The state says there have been 5,745 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 8 from yesterday, when there were 5,737 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 26 new deaths.
Statewide, 42,041 people have recovered from the virus as of June 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 2,033,003 cases, and there have been 114,126 deaths — while 540,292 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
