LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 58,999.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.
The number of cases has increased 129 from yesterday, when there were 58,870 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 121 new cases.
The state says there have been 5,673 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 17 from yesterday, when there were 5,656 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 4 new deaths.
Statewide, 42,041 people have recovered from the virus as of June 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 1,951,722 cases, and there have been 110,771 deaths — while 506,367 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
