LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 57,731.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.
The number of cases has increased 199 from yesterday, when there were 57,532 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 135 new cases.
The state says there have been 5,553 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 37 from yesterday, when there were 5,516 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 25 new deaths.
Statewide, 38,099 people have recovered from the virus as of May 29. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 1,820,523 cases, and there have been 105,644 deaths — while 458,231 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
