The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) released the latest numbers on the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.
The number of cases has increased 513 from yesterday, when there were 56,884 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 263 new cases.
The state says there have been 5,491 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 28 from yesterday, when there were 5,463 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 57 new deaths.
Statewide, 38,099 people have recovered from the virus as of May 29. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 1,784,824 cases, and there have been 104,217 deaths — while 416,461 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
