41,379 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

More than 1 million people have recovered from COVID-19 worldwide

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 41,379.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) reported the latest numbers of cases in the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.

The number of cases has increased 980 from yesterday, when there were 40,399 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 1,137 new cases.

The state says there have been 3,789 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 119 from yesterday, when there were 3,670 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 103 new deaths.

Statewide, 8,342 people have recovered from the virus as of April 24. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 1,054,261 cases, and there have been 61,717 deaths — while 124,979 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
