27,001 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 27,001.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) reported the latest numbers of cases in the coronavirus outbreak this afternoon.

The number of cases has increased 1,366 from yesterday, when there were 25,635 statewide cases. Yesterday, the state reported 997 new cases.

The state says there have been 1,768 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 166 from yesterday, when there were 1,602 statewide deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 115 new deaths.

Statewide, 433 people have recovered from the virus as of April 10.

In the U.S., there are 592,743 cases, and there have been 24,737 deaths — while 44,364 people have recovered, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
