LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 139,061.
The number of cases increased 1,359 from yesterday, when there were 137,702 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 1,237 new cases.
The state says there have been 6,941 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased 13 from yesterday, when there were 6,928 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 30 new deaths.
Statewide, 104,271 people have recovered from the virus as of Oct. 9. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 7,883,392 cases, and there have been 216,323 deaths — while 3,124,593 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
