136,465 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 136,465.

The number of cases increased 1,809 from Saturday, when there were 134,656 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. On Saturday, the state reported 1,522 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,898 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased seven from Saturday, when there were 6,891 deaths. On Saturday, the state reported 15 new deaths.

Statewide, 104,271 people have recovered from the virus as of Oct. 9. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 7,796,625 cases, and there have been 215,028 deaths — while 3,075,077 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
