133,134 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 133,134.

The number of cases increased 1,095 from yesterday, when there were 132,039 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 1,197 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,876 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased seven from yesterday, when there were 6,869 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 22 new deaths.

Statewide, 99,521 people have recovered from the virus as of Oct. 2. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 7,645,302 cases, and there have been 213,360 deaths — while 3,021,252 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
