132,039 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 132,039.

The number of cases increased 1,197 from yesterday, when there were 130,842 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 1,016 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,869 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 22 from yesterday, when there were 6,847 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported nine new deaths.

Statewide, 99,521 people have recovered from the virus as of Oct. 2. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 7,589,353 cases, and there have been 212,466 deaths — while 2,999,895 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
