129,826 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 129,826.

The number of cases increased 903 from yesterday, when there were 128,923 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 1,407 new cases -- over Sunday and Monday.

The state says there have been 6,838 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 22 from yesterday, when there were 6,816 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 15 new deaths -- over Sunday and Monday.

Statewide, 99,521 people have recovered from the virus as of Oct. 2. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 7,477,936 cases, and there have been 210,487 deaths — while 2,935,160 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
