LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 119,597.
The number of cases increased 982 from yesterday, when there were 118,615 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 705 new cases.
The state says there have been 6,700 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.
The number of deaths has increased eight from yesterday, when there were 6,692 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 12 new deaths.
Statewide, 85,513 people have recovered from the virus as of Sept. 11. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."
In the U.S., there are 6,954,456 cases, and there have been 202,404 deaths — while 2,670,256 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
