117,406 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 117,406.

The number of cases increased 1,536 from Saturday, when there were 115,870 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Numbers are no longer reported on Sunday. On Saturday, the state reported 483 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,665 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 12 from Saturday, when there were 6,653 deaths. On Saturday, the state reported 15 new deaths.

Statewide, 90,216 people have recovered from the virus as of Sept. 18. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 6,826,549 cases, and there have been 199,660 deaths — while 2,590,671 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
