109,519 coronavirus cases confirmed in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. — The number of positive cases of the coronavirus in Michigan has increased to 109,519.

The number of cases increased 924 from yesterday, when there were 108,595 statewide cases, according to the Department of Health and Human Services this afternoon. Yesterday, the state reported 783 new cases.

The state says there have been 6,569 coronavirus deaths in Michigan.

The number of deaths has increased 17 from yesterday, when there were 6,552 deaths. Yesterday, the state reported 13 new deaths.

Statewide, 80,678 people have recovered from the virus as of Sept. 5. A person is considered "recovered" by the state if they are "30 days out from their onset of illness."

In the U.S., there are 6,381,503 cases, and there have been 191,444 deaths — while 2,387,479 people have recovered, according to the global COVID-19 Dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
