EAST GRAND RAPIDS — Officials were alerted to a potential threat at East Grand Rapids Middle School Friday morning, prompting a lockdown.

No threat or danger was found, but the City of East Grand Rapids issued this statement to their Facebook page.

This morning, the Middle School received a potential threat causing administrators to place it on lockdown. Public Safety was immediately on site to investigate the validity of the threat. Though it was determined to be unfounded, Public Safety and the Schools worked together out of an abundance of caution to take every step necessary to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff. Once it was determined that no threat or danger existed, students were dismissed to proceed with the remainder of their school day.
