1. The Kent District Library is closing its branches to in-person visits.

The branch closures go into effect on Monday, but KDL will continue to offer curbside pickup services during regular hours, online programs, and other resources on their website.

It's unclear how long the closure will last, but you can look for updates on their website or social media.

2. With the temperature dropping, the Knights of Columbus are helping keep kids warm with their annual coat drive.

Coats For Kids will be making stops around Michigan giving coats and other winter gear to kids in need.

The Michigan chapters of the organization raised $63,000 for coats this year, and they'll be giving them out in Pontiac, Detroit, Flint, and Lansing. They'll be in Wyoming at Holy Name of Jesus Parish from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

To learn more about the organization and the coat drive, head to kofc.org.

3. Non-profits in the Grand Rapids Heartside Neighborhood are also collecting winter gear for those in need.

They're asking for new items to keep those experiencing homelessness warm and dry- things like coats, boots, and even personal hygiene products.

Donations will be picked up by Guiding Light to limit contact but will be shared by Degage, Mel Trotter, and the city's homeless outreach team.

You can find a wish list on Guiding Light's website.

4. Grammy-winning singer "The Weeknd" has been chosen to perform during the Super Bowl Half-Time Show.

The National Football League and the 30-year-old artist announced the news on Twitter on Thursday.

The NFL said the half-time show "is sure to be nothing short of transcendent." The Weeknd said he's honored to be part of the show.

Super Bowl 55 will take place in Tampa, Florida, on February 7.

5. Forget gingerbread houses this year, because Walmart is selling a Hostess party-size holiday Twinkies baking kit.

The massive kit comes with Twinkies cake mix, a vanilla ice cream filling mix, a Twinkie-shaped baking pan, and instructions on how to make your own giant Twinkie at home.

All you need to add is vegetable oil, eggs, water, and heavy cream.

By the time you're done, you'll have a party-size Twinkie that is as indestructible as it is delicious.
