“Set in Crete during WWII and beyond, Island of Ghosts and Dreams is a compelling story of occupation, resistance, and the inescapability of history, exploring the links between beauty and despair, loyalty and betrayal, and loss and reclamation. Christopher Cosmos has a keen, tender eye for the way memory and trauma mark a landscape, for the dramatic complications of refusal and revenge, and for the deep emotional complexity of a life and the quiet power of the stories we tell. Island of Ghosts and Dreams will surprise you at every turn."
West Michigan's Christopher Cosmos is no stranger to historical fiction and his Greek heritage. From setting stories in ancient Greece to the cusp of Italy's invasion of the country in 1940, these stories shed light on the ambition, love, and strength of the human condition.
His fourth novel, Island of Ghosts and Dreams, focuses on a minor character from the author's third book Once We Were Here, continuing the backdrop of the country's events during WWII. While serving as a sort of a pseudo-sequel, the novel can be read by itself.
Christopher will make an appearance at the Barnes and Noble at Woodland Mall on Saturday, March 7 for a book signing of Island of Ghosts and Dreams beginning at 1 P.M. There is no prior registration needed to attend nor admission fee to participate.
Christopher sat down with Michelle to share more about the book, which retails for $28.95.
