Fruitport Community Schools is getting ready to put on their spring production, "The Little Mermaid."

This year’s cast comprises of over 50 students from grades 4-12. The district has allowed younger students to audition for the chorus roles since 2012 as a way to create and nurture a love for theater at a young age.

Actors Isabelle (Ariel), Rylee (Sebastian) and Emma (Chorus) stopped by the studio to talk about their experience in the play, and what audiences can expect.

The play will run four shows from Thursday, March 19 through Saturday, March 21. All evening shows will be held at 7 p.m. and the Saturday matinee is at 1:30 p.m.

Audience members are also encouraged to bring full size hygiene items for The Hope Project, whose mission is to raise awareness of human trafficking and to bring restoration and healing from its effects. They are requesting the following donations:

  • Body wash
  • Body lotion
  • Tooth paste
