The academy, part of Samaritas Senior Living Center, is known for its fun classes that involve both their residents and the public coming together. There are more of these fun events coming in September to help people learn new skills and make connections with the community.

There are four events coming up this month, with one in-person socially distanced event and the others on Zoom.

Rolling With It- August 27 at 3 p.m.

Come, have fun learning to make products to support your health and the health of others you care for. Working thru the current season of our collective lives, we have learned about many toxic elements, but not always how to eradicate them from our lives. Learn why and how Essential Oils support your health and wellbeing! Full instructions will be given to create and replicate the products as gifts to others. All supplies will be sent to the address you register with for the class. Join the group in the comfort of your home, via Zoom video call.

Pain Management CEU Class- September 10 at 3 p.m.

Hospice of Michigan presents, Pain Management, a CEU class worth 1 CE for Social Workers, Case Managers and Nurses.
The presentation will focus on the necessity of identifying the nature of pain and responding quickly and appropriately to relieve it. A standard comprehensive treatment response is presented and morphine myths and use of the patch are discussed.

Now I Know My CBD's - A Beginners Guide to CBD Oil- September 15 at 5 p.m.

Are you curious to learn about CBD? CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound from the cannabis plant. It is NOT the same as marijuana. Do you have questions about how to use it, where to use it, and what the benefits are? Join us as The Grassy Knoll shares their knowledge.

Put Your Petal to the Metal - Floral Design 10- September 26 at 2 p.m.

This class will walk participants through simple floral design. We will look at 2 different designs focusing on 2 different sources for the flowers.

The goal of the demonstration will be to show a few tips and tricks for working with cut flowers such as ~ designing for a specific container, designing in hand versus designing in the vase directly, and how to make simple flowers impactful.

Samaritas The Academy is also seeking out teachers for future events.
