IONIA, Mich — Police and fire departments as well as LIFE EMS in Ionia County partnered with Meijer to help kids shop for Christmas.
Each kid chosen was given a $100 gift card to Meijer and paired with a county hero to help with their Christmas shopping. The Ionia County Sheriff's office post on Facebook said they were proud to be a part of the event.
"Today members of the Ionia County Sheriff's Office teamed up with Meijer and local heroes comprised of Sheriff's Deputies, Sheriff's Posse, MSP Troopers, Ionia Department of Public Safety Officers, Michigan Dept of Corrections, Portland Police Department, Lake Odessa Police Department, Belding Police Department, LIFE EMS, Berlin Orange Fire, and Sunfield Fire to help local children have a Christmas they might not otherwise have."
Volunteers helped wrap all the gifts and Meijer provided food during the event.
