IONIA, Mich. — Ionia kicked off the holiday season with their annual Christmas Parade down Main Street.

Hundreds came out to see floats and marchers, but 5 year-old Peyton Dennis stole the show.

The five year-old battling a rare, terminal form of brain cancer sat with Santa on his sleigh closing out the parade.

Peyton's mom says the support from the community has been overwhelming.

"Peyton had a lot of fun doing it, we didn’t know if he’d make it here today because he’s really sore from his surgery yesterday but he was really looking forward to seeing Santa and wanted to tell him his list so he came to do that," Katie Dennis said.

Peyton had surgery on Thursday and will undergo more radiation treatment beginning next week.
