Portage warehouse likely a total loss after fire

PORTAGE, Mich. — Firefighters in Portage say a paper warehouse is likely a total loss after a fire broke out Tuesday night.

It started around  9:45 p.m. Tuesday at the J. Rettenmaier warehouse off Vanderbilt Avenue between Oakland Drive and Shaver Road in Portage.

Officials say the fire started in one of several buildings and is likely now a total loss.

There were no reports of any injuries or hazardous materials involved.

Several area departments were called in to help fight the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
