Kalamazoo man arrested after shooting, standoff

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A man has been arrested after a shooting and standoff in Kalamazoo overnight.

The incident began just before 11:00pm in the 1100 block of S. Westnedge, according to the Department of Public Safety.  When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 49-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the arm.

The victim knew the suspect and officers tracked him to a home in the 400 block of Den Adel.  The suspect refused police orders to come out and the SWAT team surrounded the home.  The team went into the home after several hours and the suspect, a 27-year-old Kalamazoo man, surrendered without incident.

Police say they are still investigating the case and charges are forthcoming.
