NUNICA, Mich. - Eastbound I-96 has reopened at the Nunica exit due to a crash involving semi-trucks near mile marker 12.
The Ottawa County Sheriff says that seven cars and five tractor trailers were involved in the main crash and another 15 vehicles slid off the road to avoid the crash.
Three people were injured, but only one person suffered serious injuries. The highway was completely closed for about two hours.
Traffic was being routed off the highway at 112th Avenue. Westbound traffic was not affected.
Deputies say that the road was very icy and slippery and there were occasional whiteouts reported.
