GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — On Tuesday, the City of Grand Rapids identified the man who died in a house fire last week on the city’s southeast side.

It happened around 3:50 p.m. in the 800 block of Ballard Street SE on Thursday.

Heavy smoke was reported and fire crews determined Charles L. Guylon, 71, was still inside. He was found in the basement where there were no smoke detectors installed.

Officials said a final cause of the fire has not been determined.
