WEST MICHIGAN — It appears snowy weather is to blame for leaving several thousand people across West Michigan without power Sunday evening. A representative with Consumers Energy says heavy wet snowfall in the area has put pressure on trees, causing branches to break off.
More than 3,000 Consumers Energy customers are reportedly without power in Grand Rapids.
The area near Highland Park appears to be the heavily impacted by the outage, according to the Consumers outage map. More than 600 customers are without power in the area of Lake Drive and Hall Street near East Grand Rapids.
Nearly 1,600 are also without power near Hudsonville. Those customers should have had power restored by 9:30 p.m. There is no word on restoration times for those without power in the Grand Rapids area.
All information is according to the Consumers Energy Outage Map.
