WEST MICHIGAN — It has been a slow start to snowfall this season, especially when you compare it to November 2014. Snowfall this month at the Gerald R. Ford airport has been only 0.8″. The average snowfall for Grand Rapids in November is 6.5″
Compare that to snowfall for November 2014 when the airport totaled 31.0 inches We has measurable snowfall on 14 days with the highest snowfall amount of 9.6 inches on the 18th.
It also has been a very slow start for the snow season for all of the Midwest.
The top graphic is the snow depth for the Nov. 29, 2014. Snow covers the entire state with some spots in the Upper Peninsula reporting close to 24 inches.
The bottom graphic is the snow depth for this Nov. 29. A few spots in the Upper Peninsula are reporting only a trace.
Snowfall for the month of December will start slowly with no significant snow forecast. We do see a cooling trend the next 7 days with highs back in the 40s and lows in the 30s.
