Davis was charged Friday with first-degree murder, murder of a police officer and gun crimes. Prosecutor Kym Worthy says he has a felony record.

Davis will appear in court Friday. Officials have not said if a lawyer has been appointed to speak on behalf of Davis.

Rose was investigating possible thefts of navigation systems from vehicles near the Wayne State campus. The prosecutor says he was “respected” and “admired.”
