KALAMAZOO TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A man was arrested in Kalamazoo Township after he allegedly harassed neighbors while wielding a hatchet and wearing only a pair of underwear.
Brandon Weber, 27, was arraigned on multiple charges Wednesday. Last Tuesday, police say he was seen on Willis Avenue off Lake Street near the county fairgrounds acting strangely while wearing only a pair of long, camouflage underwear.
Witnesses tell police he was asking strange questions and making strange statements. At some point, they said Weber pulled a hatchet out of his underwear.
Several neighbors tried to subdue Weber, one of them even pulling out a gun, firing a shot or two into the ground. However, Weber was only stopped temporarily, and police say he ran into one of the neighbor’s homes. He didn’t come out until police arrived.
Police say Weber was taken to a hospital, where he assaulted a security guard.
Weber is being charged with home invasion, assault with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of resisting arrest.
