MECOSTA TWP., Mich. – A truck driver died Tuesday morning in a crash in Mecosta County.
Michigan State Police in Mt. Pleasant say that they were called to southbound US-131, south of Eight Mile Road at about 10:30am. A witness told them a tractor trailer had left the roadway and crashed into trees.
The driver, a 55-year-old man from Harrison, Michigan was found unresponsive and was later pronounced dead at a Big Rapids hospital. He has been identified as David Kolp.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but authorities believe Kolp may have had a medical emergency that led to the crash.
