Grand re-opening for Grand Rapids park set for Friday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– Six Grand Rapids parks received makeovers in 2016 and the first to be reconstructed is re-opening to the public.

Mary Waters Park will make its return on October 14 at noon at 1042 Lafayette Ave NE in Grand Rapids. After being given $800,000 in renovations, the park’s new look will include a splashpad, picnic shelter, restroom facility, landscaping, walking path and new furnishings such as a drinking fountain, bike racks, benches and playground improvements.

City officials and neighborhood leaders will be in attendance at the grand re-opening along with Mayor Rosalynn Bliss. Residents are being encouraged to participate as well.

There are five remaining parks that will having re-openings in the coming weeks are Campau, Camelot, Douglas, Dickinson and Mulick.
