SHELBY TWP., Mich. – An Oceana County man has died after being hit by a stack of bushel boxes at an orchard.
James Grantz, 54, died Thursday morning at the orchard on West Wever Road near South Water Road in Shelby Township.
Deputies with Oceana County say Grantz was moving a stack of bushel boxes with a tractor that was converted to being a forklift. He apparently went over some uneven ground and the stack of boxes fell on him. The tractor continued until it hit a pickup truck.
Other workers called 911 and rendered aid until emergency crews arrived. Grantz died later at an area hospital.
