STURGIS, Mich.– A traffic stop in Sturgis turned into a pursuit and meth bust early Thursday morning.
Around 12:30a.m., a St. Joseph County Sheriff attempted to stop a vehicle on South St. near Cato Lane in Sturgis. Before stopping the vehicle, the driver crashed into a tree and then ran from the deputy.
The 46-year-old Burr Oak man was arrested along with a 28-year-old Sturgis woman. After searching the vehicle, police found large amounts of meth and money inside the vehicle.
The man is currently being held at the St. Joseph County Jail on charges of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, resisting and obstructing police, driving while suspended and reckless driving.
The woman is also being held for possession of methamphetamine.
The identities of both suspects are not being released at this time.
