ZEELAND , Mich. — Dog lovers made their way to Zeeland on Saturday and filled the streets for the 11th annual Dogarama.

FOX 17’s Alyssa Hearin made her way to this “festival for pets” to check out the different contests the furry friends could participate in.

More than 300 people attended the event despite the rain, but organizers say that number was drastically lower than years past.

“We usually have 1,000 to 2,000 people so we are definitely low,” says Marketing Director Abby deRoo.

The day started off with a blessing of the dogs, and included every contest from best kisser to happiest pup.

New to the event this year were the Ultimate Air Dogs. Breeds of all kinds, young and old, tall and small, lined up to fly through the air and catch their favorite toy.

“It doesn’t matter jumps 5 feet or 20 feet or 30 feet you know, it’s just fun for the families to get together and do something outside,” says participant Sandy Keeler.

Win or lose, it was all about having a doggone good time.
