Two kids rescued from near drowning in Ottawa Co.

GRAND HAVEN TWP., Mich. – Two kids were pulled from a private pond Thursday afternoon after nearly drowning.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office reports that rescuers were call to the pond in the 13000 block of Acacia Drive in Grand Haven Township at about 1:00pm.  A 6-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl were reported to be under the surface of the water.

The children’s mom pulled the boy out of the pond.  He was conscious and ran to a nearby home for help.  She then pulled the girl from water and she was not breathing.  A neighbor came and started CPR on the girl and she regained consciousness.

Officials say that both kids were conscious were they were taken to North Ottawa Community Hospital.  Their conditions are unknown at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
