The West Michigan Special Hockey Association offers an amateur level of the game to children and young adults who have developmental disabilities. It's a very expensive sport, costing roughly $1,000 per player.
You are encouraged to help raise funds Tuesday, Aug. 9 at the 2nd Annual Summer Skate-A-Thon being held at Patterson Ice Center, 2550 Patterson Ave. SE. A $10 suggested donation at the door will get you signed up for door prizes, too. The doors open at 5 p.m. and on ice activities run from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m.
