MUSKEGON, Mich. — Several dead kittens and drugs were found at the home of a Muskegon man Monday night, leading to his arrest.
Muskegon police say say they were sent on an animal cruelty call to a home in the 1700 block of Jarman St. The caller said they found four dead kittens in plastic bags in a garbage can outside the residence. Police say they found an additional dead kitten inside the home, plus seven living cats and one dog; all inside a 32-year-old man’s bedroom. The animals were allegedly not provided with any food, water, or sanitation.
A large amount of marijuana was also found lying in the open, police say.
The suspect allegedly admitted to owning the animals as well as the drugs. He was arrested for animal cruelty and possession of marijuana.
The suspect’s name is being withheld pending arraignment.
The City Inspections Department was also notified due to the excessive animal waste in the house.
