MUSKEGON, Mich. — A man who prompted an overnight standoff after police say he shot at a woman during an alcohol-fueled dispute has been arrested.
The situation began Saturday evening when Muskegon Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Seaway and West Southern Avenue for a report of an alcohol fueled dispute. Police said a 34-year-old man fired a handgun while arguing with a 35-year-old woman. The two had previously been in a domestic relationship, police said.
The woman was not injured and ran from the man before calling 9-1-1.
Officers set a perimeter in the area of West Southern Avenue where they remained overnight and through most of the day Sunday searching for the suspect.
Neighbors were told to stay inside their homes and shelter in place.
Around 5:00 p.m. Sunday, police issued a release saying the suspect had been arrested an the area had reopened to the public. He has been identified through court records as Elijah Twining.
