HUDSON, Wis. — A 14-year-old Wisconsin girl who told police she was a “psychopath” and wanted her brother’s girlfriend to be her “first kill” has been charged as an adult with attempted first-degree intentional homicide.
Kali J. Bookey is being held without bond at the Northwest Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Eau Claire, according to The Leader-Telegram.
St. Croix County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of an attempted abduction. The teen told deputies she had been riding her bicycle earlier that morning when she was physically assaulted by two men wearing ski masks.
Bookey said “in an attempt to ward off the attackers,” she told the men they could go to a home in New Richmond where they would find a girl home alone.
When police went to the home, they found the 15-year-old victim on the floor in a bedroom, bleeding profusely from her face and neck, according to the complaint.
The victim told police her boyfriend’s sister, Bookey, attacked her. She remains hospitalized at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, according to the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.
The complaint says Bookey tried to suffocate the teen, then hit the victim over the head with two bowls. She then used shards from the bowls to cut her.
Bookey reportedly asked the victim if she wanted to die or bleed out. When the victim answered to bleed out, she stopped cutting, according to the complaint.
The suspect described the assault in “a calm, mostly unemotional manner.”
Bookey said she “was a psychopath and crazy and that (the victim) was her first kill and she was probably going to kill again.”
Bookey told police that she left her home about 4 a.m., biked to the victim’s residence and entered about 6:20 a.m. before assaulting the victim.
She said she wanted to scare the victim to leave the area so her brother would be closer to her and her family.
Bookey told police she didn’t want the victim to die, but rather to pass out from blood loss, and then Bookey would get her help.
Bookey also said she cut the victim’s throat, but later got her water to drink during the second hour of the attack.
Bookey’s case is set for a preliminary hearing on August 8.
