GRAND HAVEN, Mich. (AP/FOX 17) — A suspected drunken driver crashed a pickup truck into a used car lot in Grand Haven, damaging more than a dozen vehicles.
The crash happened Wednesday at Boulevard Used Cars.
Police say the man jumped a curb and hit a car head-on, pushing it into other vehicles and through a light pole until the car wrapped around the business’ sign. The 53-year-old Muskegon driver was treated at a hospital for injuries.
The Grand Haven Tribune reports he was arrested and later released. The Muskegon Chronicle says damage is estimated at $250,000.
The driver has been identified as Charles Etzel, Jr., 53, of Muskegon. He is expected to be arraigned on OWI charges on August 4.
Salesman Joe Danicek says it’s not the first time they’ve seen such a crash. He says more than a decade ago a drunken driver crashed into the same spot, but only hit one car.
