KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Public Safety Officers say they had to shoot a large dog that was attacking a Kalamazoo man Wednesday morning.
The incident happened in the 700 block of Egleston at about 11:15am. When police arrived, the dog was biting the man’s arm and both he and the dog were covered in blood. They say they had to shoot the dog to get it to stop attacking the man. The dog died.
The man told police he was riding his bicycle when the dog attacked. Witnesses tell police that the attack lasted for several minutes.
Police are still looking for the owner of the animal. Anyone with information should call KDPS at 269-337-8994 or Silent Observer at 269-343-2100. A description of the dog or its breed has not been released by police.
