GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- Heat from a carport fire forced residents to evacuate their apartments at Lake Forest Apartments behind the Knights Inn on Plainfield Avenue north of I-96. There were no reports of injuries.
Crews were called to the scene around 12:30 a.m. Friday.
Fire damaged or destroyed several vehicles, but there was only minor heat damage to the apartment units.
Now investigators will look into the cause.
