BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. — One of the individuals injured from Monday’s courthouse shooting was released from the hospital.

The Berrien County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy James Atterberry Jr. is back home recovering after being shot at by an inmate he was escorting back to his cell on the third floor of the courthouse.

Deputies say inmate Larry Gordon had wrestled Atterberry’s gun away from him. Two responding bailiffs – Joe Zangaro and Ron Kienzle – were killed. A civilian woman was also shot and injured.

Gordon was taken down by two officers. He was reportedly handcuffed with his hands in front of him.
