Finding Andre his Forever Home

Posted

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- With school out many kids are enjoying summer with their families, while some in foster care have more time to imagine what it would be like to be adopted. As FOX 17 continues our Forever Home series, we introduce you to Andre, 9.

Right off the bat Andre is an engaging fourth grader who is a sweetheart. Tuesday FOX 17 caught up with him after his first official baseball game in the Grand Rapids Police Department's On Base program. It's a team and a sport that Andre loves.

"We have a pizza party at the end of every Tuesday and Thursday, and we get to go to a Tigers' game if we do good this season," said Andre. "We have a lot of fun together.

Heading into the fourth grade this year, Andre's favorite parts of school may not surprise you: "lunch, recess, and gym, and music."

On top of being an athlete (with a good arm in baseball!) Andre says he loves learning music. He hopes to play the electric guitar or drums next year in school, while he dreams about his future. Andre says he's considering joining the military one day.

"I would like to be like the people who served our country from today all the way to when the world [began]," said Andre.

When it comes to being adopted, having a family is what's most important to Andre.

"It would feel really good to have a family and I would be excited because I get a new family," he said. "And, I like to meet new people."

Until then, Andre will continue to have fun and work hard to hit a home run with the right family.
