Under the Hood: How to take care of your car battery in the summer heat

Summers can take a toll on you if you stay out in the heat too long, but did you know the same thing can happen to your car battery?

Here's a few tips to keep your batter in top shape this summer:

• Keep the top of your battery dirt-free.
• Turn off accessories at night (radio, lights, etc.)
• Have your battery checked once a year, if it's more than two years old.
• When it`s time for a replacement, use Interstate Batteries.

In case there's an emergency and your vehicle stalls due to a drained battery, don't panic. Turn on your hazard lights, try to get over to the right shoulder of the freeway, and call someone for help.
