Electrical fire shuts down part of Monroe Avenue

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — An electrical fire is being blamed for shutting down part of Monroe Avenue early Sunday morning.

Fire and electrical crews were on scene around 12:30 a.m. investigating the source of the fire. Firefighters told our FOX 17 crew on scene the fire involved city wires under the street near Devos Place.

The fire did impact some internet services in the immediate area but did not affect 911 service.

Crews said said there was no concern about the fire spreading to any nearby buildings.

Monroe Avenue has since reopened to traffic.
