ECKFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A 35-year-old man is dead following a single car crash in Calhoun County.
An off-duty deputy called in the crash after hearing a baby crying in a wooded area.
It happened Sunday morning around 12:30am on 23 Mile Rd. near L Dr. South. Deputies say when they arrived on scene, they found the driver dead.
His 2-year-old daughter was pinned in her car seat. She was taken to the hospital where she’s listed in stable condition.
Deputies believe the driver failed to take a curve, left the road and ended up in the wooded area. They say speed may be a factor in the crash.
